King launches, inquires about several development projects center PDF Print E-mail

Azilal (center), Apr. 5 - King Mohammed VI of Morocco, on Saturday, launched, in the central province of Azilal and the city of Demnate, several development projects touching on education, health, as well as water and electricity supply.

  The Monarch launched in Azilal a rural electrification project, worth some USD 34.5Mn, that will benefit 195 villages and raise to 99% the electrification rate in the region.

     The sovereign also inquired about several education programs, meant to fight against school drop-out in the region. These projects provide for building  a technical high school and a pedagogic center in Azilal, establishing three high schools in rural communes, strengthening the hosting capacity of education institutions and revamping several others.

    The Monarch heard details about the basic health extension program (French Acronym Redress), which was allotted some USD 4.2Mn for the 2006-2009 period. This program provides, inter alia, for building health centers in the rural communes of Issoulane and Ait Oumdis, rebuilding a communal heath center and two maternity houses in the rural communes of Afourar and Sguatt, and revamping the health center of the Tidili Fetouaka rural commune.

    The king launched the building works of a Museum of Geology in Azilal. This project, meant to promote scientific research and promote the natural and cultural richness of the region, will be built in the Geological Park of M’Goun (M'Goun Geopark), which spans over 12,000 ha in the central regions of Beni Mellal and Azilal.

    In Demnate (70kms of azilal), the Monarch launched a USD 32.9Mn program to expand and reinforce drinking water supply in the city and the neighboring rurql communtes. This project provides, mainly, for building a water supply connection with the Hassan I Dam, a water-treatment station, two pumping stations and a 2,000 m3 water tank. 

    The monarch subsequently launched the construction works of USD 548,370 girls’ residence hall (Dar Attaliba) and inquired about several projects part of Morocco's anti-poverty program "the National Initiative for Human Development" (INDH).

    Regarding roads infrastructure, the Sovereign received details about the second national program of rural roads (PNRR 2) in the province of Azilal (center).
