King Mohammed VI of Morocco reiterated, on Saturday, his firm will to continue working with the Spanish Prime Minister, José Luis Rodriguez Zapatero, re-elected for a second consecutive term of office, "to give substance to our shared desire to turn the special relations of fruitful co-operation and good neighborliness between our two friendly nations into a full-fledged, comprehensive partnership."
In a congratulations message addressed to Mr. Zapatero on the occasion of his investiture, Friday, the king wished the Spanish PM success in leading the Spanish people towards further progress, development and prosperity.
"Thanks to the solid bonds of friendship and mutual esteem uniting me to my esteemed brother, His Majesty King Juan Carlos I, and to you personally," and to "our shared determination and the effective action of our two governments, institutions and productive stakeholders", "our strategic partnership will become even stronger in the future because it is based on solid foundations as well as on trust, mutual respect and continuous consultations on all bilateral, regional and international issues of common interest," the monarch said.
The king said the goal is to make these relations pave the way for Maghreb (Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya and Mauritania), Mediterranean and Euro-African partnership.
The sovereign insisted that he has been urging the Moroccan government to step up joint action with the Spanish government in all sectors of common interest “so as to achieve our shared ambition for our peoples, to serve their interests, and to promote security, stability, progress, prosperity, concord and solidarity in our region”. |
